Gazipur is a district under the Dhaka Division, covering an area of 1,741.53 km². It is bounded by the Mymensingh and Kishoreganj districts to the north, Dhaka and Narayanganj districts to the south, Narsingdi to the east, and Dhaka and Tangail districts to the west. The annual average temperature ranges from a maximum of 36°C to a minimum of 12.7°C. The main rivers flowing through the district are the Old Brahmaputra, Shitalakshya, Turag, Bangshi, Balu, and Banar.
