Histry of Jhenidah District:-
In ancient it was marshy land and Jhenuk and pearl was available here and it was also famous in the world. So the word Jhenuk and Dhah make the name JHENIDAH.
Location:
Jhenaidah District is located between 23°15 to 23°45 N latitude and 88°45 to 89°45 E longitude. It is bounded by the Kushtia and Rajbari districts to the north, Chuadanga district and West Bengal (India) to the west, Jashore district to the south, and Magura district to the east. It was officially declared a district in 1984.
The rivers- Gorai, Kopotakha, Bhoirob, Nobogonga, Kumar, Chittra, Begoboti are flowing through this district. Except Gorai all are dead river. Normally it is out flood disaster.
Economy:
The economy of the district depends on agriculture. Only one large industry- Mobarokgonj Sugar Mill is in Kaligonj Upazila.
Great Son of the Nation:
The great sons of the districts- Bir Sresto Shepahi Hamidur Rahman ( fighter of libration war), Bagha Jotin ( leader of undivided Bangla, sacrificed life for the country), Mormi Poet Pagla Kanai, Boul Shamrat Lalan Shah, KP Boshu ( great mathematician), Kobi Golam Mostofa, Ila Mitra ( queen of Nachole, leader of tri-division of crop).
