Kurigram District

Kurigram District Town stands on the bank of the Dharla river and is located at 25°75'00"N and 89°66'00"E. It was declared a district on 23rd January 1984. It consists of 9 upazilas, 3 municipalities, and 73 unions. Kurigram district has a strong history and culture. The Kurigram Municipality was established on 20th January 1972. The district is adjacent to the Indian Assam border. There are some prominent rivers in this district, such as the Brahmaputra, Teesta, Dharla, Dudhkumar, Phulkumar, Jingiram, Sonavori, Holholia, Kaljani, and Sankosh. Kurigram is one of the potential districts in Bangladesh in all respects.
