Bogra district town stands on the bank of the Karotoa River and it is located at 24° 32' - 25° 18' N and 88° 57' - 89° 44' E. It was established in the eighteenth century. Bogra has 12 Upazilas, 11 Pourasavas, 108 Unions, and 1399 Mouzas. Bogra district is full of historical places like Mahasthan Museum, Mahasthan Garh, Vasu Bihar, Behula Bashar Ghar, and Govinda Bhita, which are rich in ancient Buddhist architecture, art, and culture, located at Shibgonj Upazila, 12 km from Bogra City. Kherua Mosque at Sherpur Upazila is another eye-catching structure bearing the symbol of ancient Muslim architecture. During the British period, a Regional Administrative Center was established in Bogra City. Magistrate Court, Police Station, Telegraph Office, Bogra Pourashava, and other regional government offices started activities since 1876. Bogra Shahid Minar was first established in 1953 on Altafunnesha playground. Azizul Haque Government College, relentless in the pursuit of knowledge, is the highest educational institution of this region. There are two big Cantonments, an International Cricket Stadium, and a Medical College.
